Happy Father's Day

Yesterday we did the Hublein Tower Hike again (we originally did the hike on Father's Day 2011 when Taylor was 6 months old). We skipped it last year, as i was pregnant with Caley, but we are thinking it may be an annual Father's Day hike. The temperature was perfect, low 70's, but it was quite muddy from all the rain we have had lately. Overall, the hike was a success! We started out a little slow as Taylor was very intrigued with the fact that we were walking through the forest. (We told her she could call it the woods or the forest, and she chose forest) Throughout the (2 hr) hike she made comments like, "oooh a doggy in the forest, oooh a baby in the forest, ooooh a big rock in the forest... etc". She walked for a good part with an exception for the mud puddles we had to go 'off roading' to get by and up steep parts where the rocks were large and wobbly.

Father's Day weekend also included delicious breakfast (almond french toast) and a father-daughter painting session. Caley didn't join in on the painting, but she was cheering Patrick and Taylor on.

HAPPY Father's Day, Patrick! We love you!! xoxoxo

bubbles and other fun

Grandma Cristine and Auntie Melissa came for the weekend. Grandma brought a bubble toy for Taylor, which she absolutely loves. We had a great weekend (before the HFMD!)

Caley now eats finger foods (puffs and mum mums) and LOVES drinking water out of a sippy cup.

swimming lessons

We thought it a good idea to give Taylor swimming lessons in Omi & Poppy's pool. Apparently, we were wrong. Mistake #1 - Putting Taylor in a life vest. Patrick was under the impression that it would hold her up perfectly (on her belly) and she would instantly know how to swim. In reality, the second he let go of her she was thrown onto her back. She was no longer even remotely interested in learning to swim. In fact, she was so disinterested she told us that she would "rather take a nap". We're not sure when she learned the word, 'rather'.

We did get some pictures before the whole thing went south. Next time we won't use the life jacket.

escaping the heat wave

Last Sunday we escaped the heat wave by going to Omi & Poppy's house for the day. It was almost 20 degrees cooler in Waterford! We had a fun day of playing poolside and of course had to go try out the new ice cream shop while Caley and Poppy were resting :)

fun with dad

A break in the heat wave made for some fun play time outside. Taylor was a good sport and played baseball with Pat first, and then hit the swing set! She loves Caley's baby swing :)
