new way to watch TV
Omi and Grandma Cristine used the carseat from Pat's car this past weekend while we were in Newport, so after they left we had it inside the house. Taylor has decided that this is her new favorite spot to lounge and watch Dinosaur Train...

Marble House Mansion Tour
Newport, Rhode Island - Marble House
Unfortunately, we were only allowed to take exterior photos of the Marble House, which is a mansion on the water in Newport (but is referred to as a 'cottage'). Marble House was built between 1888 and 1892 for Mr. and Mrs. William K. Vanderbilt and cost 11 million dollars to build!

Alva Vanderbilt commissioned the construction of a Chinese Tea House at the back of the Marble House property in 1912. She celebrated its opening with Chinese costume ball at Marble House. When the U.S. entered World War I in 1917, Alva closed Marble House and the Tea House and never reopened them. When Marble house was turned over to the preservation society, they re-opened the Chinese Tea House for events. Today you can have private parties or events at the Tea House. It was open for lunch when we did the Marble House tour, but we decided not to eat there.

Five Years
Patrick and I went to Newport, Rhode Island for a 3 day weekend 5 year anniversary trip, sans Taylor. Although we missed Taylor like crazy, we had a really great weekend.
I think we struck a good balance between activities: A little bit of shopping, eating yummy food, walking a lot to burn off the calories, being tourists and going on a cliff walk followed by massages and ending our weekend with a mansion tour and delicious lunch waterfront.
Oh, let's not forget the one morning of "sleeping in" til 8:15 (the other morning i woke up at 4 am thanks to Caley having a dance party, but we can pretend that didn't happen)
Here are some pictures from the cliff walk. We only did the North end of the walk as the South end would have consisted of walking over slippery rocks and we thought that a tad dangerous for being 35 weeks pregnant :)

some of these mansions are referred to as summer "cottages"

snuggles with Caley
Taylor already LOVES to snuggle with her baby sister. She demands "snuggle baby" time where she has to lay on my bare belly, kiss it, and tell the baby "i love you". its pretty cute.

apple picking
Last weekend while in NJ we went apple picking at Wightman's Farm with the Grandma Cristine, Aunt Melissa and the Walker family. It was earlier in the season than we went last year, but they still had a variety of apples. Of course, the kind i wanted for my home made apple pie were at the very top of the orchard. go figure!
